The Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council serves the East Kootenay region of British Columbia, including the communities of Golden, Cranbrook, Fernie, Invermere and Creston. The organization is led by a volunteer board of directors from around the region. The Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council’s purposes are:
- To promote and support science, technology and innovation related economic development within our region, at the level of both individual entrepreneurs and the community.
- To promote and support educational opportunities related to science, technology and innovation in our region.
- To facilitate science, technology and innovation related research.
- To foster the development of regional infrastructure and capital that supports a climate beneficial to science, technology and innovation in our region.
- To create public, private and non-profit partnerships that advance science, technology and innovation related initiatives, access resources and promote the distinct character of the region.
