The Mid-Island Science, Technology and Innovation Council serves science and technology innovators and entrepreneurs on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. Its area covers all of Vancouver Island except for Victoria, and Powell River, Gibsons, and Sechelt on the Lower Mainland.
MISTIC acts as a catalyst to revitalize the regional economy by:
- improving accessibility to provincial and federal programs and initiatives to businesses;
- partnering with Malaspina University College to facilitate the adoption of technology to companies;
- promoting mentors to bridge the gap between ideas and market success;
- fostering awareness of science, technology and innovation.
MISTIC facilitates the presentation of seminars and business forums and coordinates events in partnership with colleague organizations. MISTIC also participates on committees and community groups focused on developing diverse regional economies through the creation of knowledge-based businesses, advanced manufacturing, and technology industries.
